Every day, the number of vehicles is increasing in Chennai and as a result there is huge traffic congestion in many places in Chennai. Now, GCC is taking many efforts to reduce the traffic congestion in the city is well known to us.
The news that the special officers have speeded up the land acquisition process for constructing 10 new flyovers in Chennai city to reduce the traffic congestion has been the subject for discussion for many now. By September 2024, the flyover works would be completed.
Inspite of the metro rail project being implemented in Chennai, the traffic congestion has not reduced in both core places as well as in the extended places. Bitter fact is that after the Coronavirus pandemic, the number of vehicles has become more in Chennai.
The TN govt has started construction of flyovers in Chennai now. Now, the construction of the flyovers in 10 places has been speeded up. In this scenario, the Chennai Corporation has requested Chennai Collectorate to speed up the land acquisition work for construction of flyovers at various places in the city.
In some places in Chennai, lands need to be acquired for the flyover construction. It must be noted that the Manali zone based Vadaperumbakkam flyover requires acquisition of 14 plots of area of 13218 sqft. Administrative permission was given last month for this.
In the Valasaravakkam zone, 47318 sq ft of land would have to be acquired to construct a flyover across Cooum at Chinna Nolambur connecting PH Road and Union Road in sector 143 and 144.
