Chennai District Collector Issues Warning: Unregistered Womens Hostels Face Legal Consequences

The District Collector of Chennai has issued a warning, stating that all women`s hostels operating within the Chennai district must be registered by the 30th of this month. Failure to comply will result in legal action.
The District Collector`s Office released an official press statement emphasizing the necessity for all private working women`s hostels and homes in Chennai district to be registered under the Tamil Nadu Women`s and Children`s Hostels Regulation Act 2014 and Rules 2015. Hostel operators who have not completed the registration process can do so through the online portal https://tnswp.com.
To facilitate the registration, administrators are required to upload essential documents, including the trust registration deed, building ownership/rental agreement deed, building layout plan, building ownership proof certificate, fire department clearance certificate, and health certificate, all of which should be submitted via the online portal by 5 pm on the 30th of this month.
Chennai District Collector, Rashmi Siddharth Jagade, has stressed that failure to register will result in serious consequences. Administrators could face a maximum penalty of 2 years` imprisonment and a fine of Rs. 50,000/- (Rupees fifty thousand) through legal enforcement by the police.
