Malaria workers denied permission in Metro Rail sites

Sites of the Metro Rail construction are supposed to be the major breeding areas for mosquitoes. The Chennai Corporation is taking various steps to curb the mosquito menace. Malaria workers of the Chennai Corporation are not permitted to carry out mosquito control operations on the premises by contractors. Corporation employees in charge of mosquito control said the reason cited was often safety concerns. CMRL does not carry out mosquito control operations either.
But the officials of Metro Rail say that there is no truth in this news and malaria workers are doing their work.
