The Greater Chennai Corporation (GCC) has undertaken the task of removing all unauthorized/unapproved advertisement boards within Chennai Metro City, as per the Chennai High Court`s order.
Between September 21st and October 25th, a total of 203 advertisement boards were erected in private and public locations, and another 44 unapproved advertisement boards displayed in various shops have been removed by the Greater Chennai Corporation.
If building owners permit the placement of advertisements on their premises, the advertising company MUST obtain prior permission from the Greater Chennai Corporation before installing advertisement boards.
If an owner allows the placement of advertisement boards without this prior approval from GCC, GCC will initiate stringent legal action against the building owner for violating the rules.
In a notification issued by the Greater Chennai Corporation, it is stated:
"As the Northeast Monsoon Rains season has begun, with due consideration for public safety in natural disasters, building owners MUST take action by reporting any advertisement boards that have been installed without GCC`s permission.
If there are delays or complications on this matter, the responsible parties, including the building owners and the advertising organizations, WILL BE HELD ACCOUNTABLE IN THE EVENT OF ANY UNFORESEEN INCIDENTS OR ACCIDENTS!"
