The HR & CE minister Mr. PK. Sekar Babu has revealed that the new bus terminus at Kilambakkam in south Chennai would be opened to the public by the chief minister of TN soon. He added that by 15th to 20th November, all the infrastructural works would be completed and the bus terminus would be ready.
Other important persons along with HR & CE minister who made their presence felt yesterday at the new bus terminus in Kilambakkam were housing and urban development secretary, Mr. C. Samayamoorthy, CMDA member secretary, Mr. Anshul Mishra etc.
Mr. Sekar Babu explained that the inauguration of the new bus terminus here has been delayed due to lack of proper infrastructure around the terminus to drain water and to address traffic congestion etc. It is learnt that work on the expansion of 4 additional roads and SWD are nearing completion now.
The work to construct a new bus terminus spread on 86 acres of lands at Kilambakkam began in 2019. The work was first planned in the year 2013 at an amount of Rs 400 crores. An amount of Rs 100 cr was used to provide additional infrastructure like SWD and basic amenities etc.
Three new roads such as Guduvanchery to Madambakkam, Adhanur to Madambakkam and Vandalur Walajah- Madambakkam link road were laid. The HR & CE minister finally spoke about how a police station is being constructed at Rs 12 cr and works regarding a new park and new entrance etc have been going on.
