On the occasion of the World Pancreatic Cancer awareness month which is November, GEM Hospital, India’s premier Gastroenterology, laparoscopic and Robotic surgery hospital, organised an awareness program on1st November 2023 observing Pancreatic Awareness Month. This initiative is intended to honour the victors who successfully won their battle against various pancreatic diseases.
GEM hospitalis also conducting awareness camp for Pancreatic Diseases throughout this month in Mylapore, Saidapet, Thiruvottiyur, Perambur, Pallavaram, Kovalam, Kanchipuram, Chengalpet and Thiruvallur districts. The hospital building will be lit with a purple light as a symbol of awareness on pancreatic diseases.
Around 100 warriors of Pancreatic diseases were present at GEM Hospital to share their experience and the quality of life they are currently going through. It gives confidence and the courage to those who are newly diagnosed with various pancreatic diseases to undergo the treatments bravely.
Dr. C. Palanivelu, Chairman & Founder, GEM Hospital said, “Pancreatic cancer is the 8th most common cancer in women and the 10th most common cancer in men. This highlights the importance of creating awareness among the public about this aggressive disease so that they do not ignore the symptoms and get themselves investigated early, to receive the best possible surgical cure on time. Since 2017, robotic surgery for pancreatic cancer has been inculcated in the surgical armamentarium at this institute to offer the best possible outcomes in the quest towards pancreatic cancer cure” he further added.
