Ration shops in the state of Tamil Nadu will not operate on the 13th and 25th of November. This decision has been made to provide compensation to the staff who diligently worked without a break during the Deepavali Festival.
Harsahay Meena, the Commissioner of the Department of Food and Distribution of Food items, issued an order regarding these declared holidays. This directive has been communicated to all District Collectors, Registrars of the Cooperative Associations, and the Managing Director of the Consumer Items Trading Association.
Details of the circular are as follows:
Traditionally, the first and second Fridays of each month are designated as holidays for all ration shops. However, to accommodate the special occasion of the approaching Deepavali Festival, it was announced that all ration shops would remain open on the first and second Fridays of November (3rd and 10th November).
Consequently, all ration shops in Tamil Nadu were open on the 3rd of November, and they will also operate today, Friday, the 10th of November.
Due to the staff`s dedication on these two Fridays, a demand for compensatory holidays was raised. Acknowledging this appeal, compensatory holidays have been declared for the ration shop staff on the 13th of November (Monday) and the 25th of November (Saturday).
Therefore, an official order has been released stating that ration shops will not function on the 13th and 25th of November.
