In Chennai, the textile vendors have now got huge expectations regarding the sales for the deepavali. They are very much aware of the tough competition that is present now for them from the sellers and from the online platforms etc.
According to a resident from Chennai, before buying any product, quality as well as price must be taken into account. The resident pointed out the importance of good quality products at affordable prices.
It is now brought out that after the busy congested commercial hub T. Nagar, Purasawalkam is the second best choice for purchasing products. During the festival seasons especially, T. Nagar becomes heavily crowded as many come to buy. This creates many issues for the residents.
It was mentioned by Mr T.M. Rajendiran of Broadway based textile shop that these days business has become very dull due to the preference of the residents for online shopping. He revealed that even during deepavali there were no sales. It is true that offline retailers have witnessed a drop in the customers and revenues especially in the younger market.
It is known that the younger generation are fully fashion oriented. The bitter fact is that the small shops and medium size shops are unable to match the ease and affordability provided by the e-commerce web portals.
As per Mogappair based textile shop owner, the textile business for deepavali was good. He was of the view that the issue was the competition from others.
