Walking from Kasimedu to Thiruvottiyur along the beach with winds blowing on our face and with the sounds of waves etc!!
Yes, this will become reality in the near future. The officials belonging to CMDA or Chennai Metropolitan Development Authority have revealed that soon a footpath would be constructed along the beach in north Chennai.
It is well known that urban places and suburbs belonging to Chennai have been developed but areas in north Chennai such as Royapuram, Kasimedu, Tondiarpet, Vannarapettai, Thiruvottiyur, Perambur etc are still not fully developed. Point is that road infrastructure has been a huge issue here in the north Chennai localities. In terms of transportation, the localities in north Chennai are still in a backward situation only when compared to the rest of Chennai.
North Chennai Development Project:
It must be noted that the TN govt has decided to make the long term dream of the residents of north Chennai reality. A new scheme called North Chennai Development Project has been developed by the TN govt and a huge amount of Rs 1000 cr would be allotted to this project. This amount would be spent in 3 years. Many development projects are underway and this included the upgrading of 5 bus terminus using several crores.
It must be taken into account that there have been many complaints regarding dumping of solid waste in the beaches belonging to Kasimedu, Thiruvottiyur and Ennore in north Chennai. The CMDA has planned to construct footpaths along the beaches in north Chennai. The footpath would be 5km near the north Chennai beach. In addition to the footpath, CMDA is also planning to set up child play areas, gardens with sculptures, urban gymnasium, toilet facilities etc. In two weeks, the pavement construction would begin and this was as per an officer from CMDA.
It is learnt that the construction of a new footpath along the Kasimedu beach would begin by the end of November. After the construction gets over, the residents would be able to walk from Kasimedu to Thiruvottiyur. Based on the traffic congestion of the residential population, this project has been planned and it would attract many tourists also.
