Normal life in Chennai was severely disrupted as relentless rainfall pounded the city on Wednesday night, leading to widespread flooding and the closure of several subways. The downpour caused traffic snarls, causing inconvenience to motorists for several hours. Various neighborhoods in the capital reported waterlogging, impacting daily activities.
Affected Areas:
- Vadapalani, Koyambedu, Guindy, Ambattur, Anna Nagar, Puzhal, Kodambakkam, Kathivakkam, Velachery, Chetpet, Kolathur, Thiruvanmiyur, and Perambur were among the areas extensively affected by flooding.
Notable Issues:
- Specific stretches, including Five Furlong Road, Padi Bridge to Thirumangalam, and subways in Perambur and Saidapet, experienced severe waterlogging, contributing to traffic disruptions.
Highest Rainfall Recorded in Kolathur:
- Kolathur recorded the highest amount of rainfall, measuring 62.44 mm, leading to widespread flooding in various parts of the area.
