New dress code is compulsory for the visitors in this highly famous Thanjavur Big Temple!!

It was in 1010 CE, Chola King 1 constructed the Big Temple or also known as Thanjai Peria Kovil in Thanjavur in southern TN. Many from India and from foreign countries etc visit this famous temple with their families and friends are a well known fact.  It must be recalled that in 2010 when this temple turned 1000 years old the TN govt organised many cultural events etc.

The sensational piece of news that has come out now is that this Big Temple in Thanjavur in Tamil Nadu has announced a dress code for all the visitors with immediate effect. It is now said that the temple staff would strictly implement the rule. This was according to the HR & CE department on Thursday. Many temples failed to implement the dress code rule properly and this led to many criticisms is known. In this situation, the HR & CE department has ordered the temples to follow the regulation immediately.

A big board has been erected now at the temple premises by both Thanjavur Palace Devasthanam and HR&CE dept requesting the devotees to follow the dress code with immediate effect.

It must be taken into account that since devotees and tourists come to this Big Temple from various places the temple authorities have decided to follow the dress code norms strictly.

Dress code for men:

Point is that according to the regulation the male devotees are allowed to wear dhotis, pants and shirts. Women devotees are allowed to wear ethnic dresses such as sarees, half sarees , churidar with dupatta. The children must come to the temple with completely covered dress. Inside the temple half trousers and leggings would not be allowed and these dresses are prohibited now.
