Express and suburban trains departing from Chennai Central have resumed normal operations since Thursday, signaling a return to regular train services. The Basin Bridge workshop, previously inundated due to the impact of Cyclone Mikjam, particularly affecting the main bridge connecting Chennai Central railway station, has now been addressed.
To circumvent the issues caused by flooding, various trains were redirected to operate from suburban Railway Stations and Coastal Railway Stations. Despite this temporary adjustment, train services from both Chennai Central and Egmore railway stations are now running in full swing since Thursday afternoon.
Key routes, including the Chennai Central to Delhi Grand Trung Express, Tamil Nadu Express, Cheran Express, and Yercaud Express, were back in operation on Thursday, ensuring minimal disruption to the regular schedule.
Cancellation of 9 Trains:
However, it is essential to note that nine trains departing from Chennai Central on Friday (Dec 8) have been canceled due to unspecified reasons. Among them are the Jolarpet - Chennai Central Elagiri Express, Central - Nagercoil Weekly Express, Vijayawada Jan Shatabdi Express, and trains operating between Central - Tirupati, all of which will be affected on Friday.
