The flood water entered the Tirusulam railway subway in south Chennai and due to this reason it has been closed down. It is known to us that the pedestrian that connects the Chennai airport with the Tirusulam EMU and the metro station is located in Tirusulam. The Highways dept has been taking care of this subway. As it made travel very easy, this subway was used by many people who boarded EMU and metro trains to reach their destinations.
The recent heavy rains due to Cyclone Michaung have flooded this subway completely and due to that it was closed down with barricades placed at the entrance. Now, 5 days have gone after the floods and even now the concerned authorities have not taken any step to drain out the water here. This has made the commuters cross the GST Road by risking their lives.
Since crossing the national highway was very risky and has led to many accidents in the past, the commuters want the subway flood water to be removed as soon as possible. They now want a motor pump to be placed permanently here to drain out the water.
