The 21st Chennai International Film Festival is set to showcase 126 films from 57 countries at Sathyam Cinemas from December 14 to December 21. Organized by the Indo Cine Appreciation Foundation (ICAF) in collaboration with PVR INOX, the festival will feature acclaimed films, including potential Oscar entries.
The opening film could be either "Anatomy of A Fall" by Justine Triet, Palme d`Or winner at Cannes Festival 2023, or "Perfect Days" by Wim Wenders, recipient of the Best Actor Award at Cannes Festival 2023. The closing film may be "Sweet Dreams" by Zoete dromen, the Netherlands` Oscars 2024 entry, or "A Brighter Tomorrow" by Nanni Moretti, Palme d` Or nominee at Cannes Festival 2023.
Among the diverse lineup are films like "2018: Everyone is a Hero" (India), "The Teachers` Lounge" (Germany), "Perfect Days" (Japan), "Do Not Expect Too Much from the End of the World" (Romania), "Fallen Leaves" (Finland), "Inshallah a Boy" (Jordan), and "Melody" (Tajikistan), among others. Notably, the festival introduces movies from countries like Vietnam, Jordan, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Tajikistan, Panama, Mongolia, Kazakhstan, Reunion, Uruguay, Macedonia, UAE, and Tibet in the world cinema section.
