Last week, Cyclone Michaung unleashed its fury in Chennai and its 3 neighbouring districts like Kancheepuram, Thiruvallur and Chengalpet. Lives of many people were badly affected by the cyclone based floods. Earlier, the TN govt has announced that it would provide flood relief amount of Rs 6000 for the flood affected people in the above 4 mentioned districts. The TN govt then announced that it would provide the relief amount to the entire Chennai district plus in the rain affected taluks in other 3 districts.
It must be noted that the flood relief amount would not be provided to the sugar card holders, IT payers and govt employees belonging to the 4 districts. It was said that the above category people if they were affected by the floods must fill up the application forms (regarding their lost products) available in the ration shops along with their bank account number. The officers would investigate and then provide the relief amount.
In this scenario, token distribution to get flood relief amount of Rs 6000 began yesterday in Chennai. Till tomorrow, 16th December, tokens would be distributed door to door. It is noteworthy that those who had received tokens could go to the ration shops from 17th to 21st December based on the time and date given in the token and get their relief amount.
Those who have not received tokens but are affected badly by the floods must visit the ration shops and buy the application form, fill up the form and then submit the forms at the shops. For this work, there would be 2 municipal officials in every ration shop. The ration shop staff have mentioned that the TN govt has also sent a list to the ration shops regarding those who must be provided with Rs 6000.
