With flag hoisting ceremony, the Arudra darisanam festival started at the popular Chidambaram Natarajar temple. It must be noted that utsava aacharya performed pujas and hoisted the flag.
On 26th December, chariots would take place and on 27th December Aarudhra darshan ceremony would take place. It must be noted that of the pancha bootha sthalams (Ekambareswarar temple in Kancheepuram, Annamalaiyar temple in Thiruvannamalai, Jambukeswarar temple in Thiruvanaikaval, Chidambaram Natarajar temple and Thirukalatheeswarar temple in Srikalahasti), Chidambaram Natarajar temple is the aagaya sthalam and the lingam here is the Aaagasa lingam.
At the Chidambaram temple, Aani thirumanjana festival in the month of Aani and adi Arudra darisanam festival in the month of Margazhi are very famous. In this year, the aadi arudra festival began with the flag hoisting ceremony on 17th of December 2023.
On this occasion, a large number of devotees took part. It is said that every day there would be street quiz programmes about pancha murthy. On 26th December, Tuesday, therottam or car festival would be held and this would be the main event. On Wednesday morning, 27th December, maha abhishekam will be held here.
