Who would have thought that one day margazhi maha utsavam would be held in a hospital?
Yes, this has happened recently in a Chennai hospital and it took many by surprise. It is well known to us that every year the margazhi maasam music festival takes place in the music sabhas present in Chennai.
From 8th to 17th December, Kauvery hospitals in Vadapalani organised margazhi maha utsavam at the hospital auditorium. Pont is the hospital associated with Music Forum to organise this margazhi maha utsavam at the hospital auditorium.
The healing power of music was considered as the reason for organising the maha utsavam in the Kauvery Hospital. According to Dr. Aranindan Selvaraj, co-founder and ED of Kauvery Hospitals, music was not only an entertainment but it would also provide therapeutic benefits like lowering stress, lowering blood pressure etc. This would lead to superb overall healing.
It is superb to note that this unique initiative has created a unique and uplifting atmosphere. He added that the music in the hospital reminded about the strong roots in music, art, spirituality etc. The crowd was diverse beyond the hospital premises and every day about 150 to 170 participants attended the musical event.
It must be taken into account that Taj Coromandel has also been hosting musical events for their patrons. The hotel has got a historic commitment to culture and cuisines. This was mentioned by Mr. Naved Karbelkar , hotel manager.
