The Director of the Chennai Regional Meteorological Centre, Pa. Senthamaraikkannan, has issued a weather notification with the following details:
"Due to changing wind speeds in the easterly winds, there is a possibility of mild rain today (Wednesday, 27th December) and tomorrow (Thursday, 28th December) in 1 or 2 places in Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Karaikkal.
Chennai Metro City and its suburbs will experience partly cloudy conditions today (Wednesday, 27th December), with prospects of mild rain in some parts of the city.
Regarding the rainfall recorded at 8.30 AM yesterday (Tuesday, 26th December) in the last 24 hours, 1 cm of rainfall each has been recorded in Villupuram District (Marakkanam) and Thothagiri Estate in Nilgiri District.
Warning for fishermen:
High-speed winds at 40-45 kmph, intermittently reaching 55 kmph, are expected across the Kanyakumari Ocean and the adjacent sections of the Maldives Islands and the southern part of the southeast Bay of Bengal.
Similar high-speed winds are anticipated in the Kanyakumari Ocean and the adjacent sections of the Maldives Islands and the southern part of the southeast Bay of Bengal tomorrow (Thursday, 28th December).
In light of this, fishermen are strongly advised not to venture into the sea in these areas."
