Good news for the Chennai residents now!!
On Saturday, the Kilambakkam bus terminus would be inaugurated by the chief minister of TN Mr. MK. Stalin and the officers are gearing for that. At around 11am, the TN chief minister would visit the terminus and inaugurate it for public use. To manage the traffic on the GST Road in Perungalathur, the new bus terminus was constructed in Kilambakkam in southern part of Chennai.
In 2018, the construction of the new bus terminus began at an estimated amount of Rs 397 cr. All the interior works in the bus terminus were completed some months back is known. At that time it was said that the bus terminus would open in June. As the bus terminus was constructed without much planning, the opening was postponed. There were issues regarding the entry and exit of the buses and the terminal was also water logged when it rained heavily recently..
There were few modification works carried out in the bus terminus and culverts were built along national highways to avoid flooding. It must be recalled that two weeks back a trial run was conducted in the bus terminus with 100 buses.
It is now said that the inauguration of new terminus would help many passengers to have a seamless travel in the upcoming Pongal season. As per some sources, initially only few buses would be operated from Kilambakkam bus terminus but afterwards more buses would be operated.
