Widening of ROB on IRR near Padi in Chennai - Whatz happening?

For reducing traffic congestion and accidents, the state Highways department would be expanding the present 6lane road over bridge or ROB to a 10 lane road over bridge on the IRR or inner ring road near Padi in Chennai.
It is noteworthy that IRR has got 5 lanes on both sides of the median. Point is that after one kilometre stretch from Padi junction the bridge narrows to a 3lane road and another small portion near Padi railway station (from Villivakkm to Padi) has got 2 lanes on either side of the median. Many accidents take place due to the sharp curves on the Padi side of the road over the bridge.
Now, the state Highways dept has decided to widen the road as many vehicles use the road over bridge to go to Andhra Pradesh etc. It is learnt that a new pedestrian apt would be constructed along this arm as there are many textile stores, hospitals, educational institutions etc.
It was later revealed by Villivakkam based resident activist Mr. Nedumaran that ROB was present exactly between Korattur and Villivakkam railway stations and near to Madhavaram, Korattur and Anna Nagar bus depots. Bitter truth is that traffic comes to a standstill every day here when the traffic police personnel regulate vehicular movement.
