Poonamallee to Paranthur Metro Rail Project: Comprehensive Feasibility Report Submitted to Tamil Nadu Government

The Feasibility Report for the Public Rapid Transit project from Poonamallee to Paranthur has been officially submitted to Ramesh Chand Meena, Additional Chief Secretary of the Department of Special Initiatives, Government of Tamil Nadu. Chennai Metro Rail Administration X has communicated this information, stating that the Detailed Feasibility Report recommends the implementation of a Mass Rapid Transit System (MRTS) from Poonamallee to Thirumazhisai and Sriperumbudur to Paranthur.

The report, submitted on January 4th, outlines the significant aspects of the proposed MRTS project, with the presence of officials such as Chennai Metro Rail Project Director Archunan, Chief General Manager D. Livingstone Eleazar (Project Planning and Design), and other senior officials from Chennai Metro Rail Corporation at the head office.

Key features highlighted in the Detailed Feasibility Report include:

1. Total route length: 43.63 km
2. Mass Rapid Transit Stations: Approximately 19
3. Estimated Completion Cost: Approximately Rs 10,712 Crore

The feasibility report takes into account recent developments, including the proposed new airport at Paranthur, the proposed bus stand at Thirumazhisai, and the anticipated future growth along the route. Chennai Metro Rail Corporation emphasizes the importance of extending the Mass Rapid Transit System (MRTS) to accommodate these developments.

The detailed plan report specifies that, following a comprehensive alignment study, the finalization of station details and land requirements for the mass rapid transit system will be undertaken.
