In the first week of February, the survey of mobility in the households of GCC and other local bodies in CMA would be completed. It is worth mentioning here that the survey that was taken up by CUMTA or Chennai Unified Metropolitan Transport Authority was supposed to be completed by 15th of January itself but got delayed due to the floods in Chennai in the NE monsoon season.
In the 700 traffic analysis zones in CMA, about 26000 households have been covered in the survey. This was brought out by Mr. Jeyakumar, special officer of CUMTA. It is now said that a total of 50000 households would be covered in the CMA in the survey.
For the sake of the survey, GCC has been divided into 200 traffic analysis zones. In the recent resident associations meeting, the residents have been asked to provide their full cooperation regarding this survey. In 200 wards, the work has been delayed and it is now said that 70 workers would be expediting the survey process in January.
In the next step after the survey, work about improving the accuracy of the findings with the help of big data about transportation priorities would begin. With the help of the survey, the public travel pattern would be covered and a well connected road network would be developed. It is revealed that after surveying work other works like preparation of comprehensive mobility plan or CMP etc would begin for integrated development of land use & transport planning in the CMA.
