The Greater Chennai Corporation (GCC) is organizing `Area Sabhas` (Area Meetings) in the 200 wards of Chennai Metro City until the 8th of February. Chennai Metro City Mayor R. Priya attended the Sabha Meeting in the 74th Ward in the Thiru. Vi. Ka. Zone and received grievances from the citizens.
Last year, the State Government of Tamil Nadu ordered that all City Corporations in the state must establish Area Sabhas and enroll local citizens as members to address their grievances.
Guidelines have been issued stipulating that these Area Sabha Meetings must occur four times a year.
In line with this directive, the State Government of Tamil Nadu has further mandated that all local city administrations MUST conduct Area Sabha Meetings from the 25th of January until the 8th of February.
Consequently, the Greater Chennai Corporation has emphasized that all 200 wards in Chennai Metro City MUST complete conducting the Area Sabha Meetings before the 8th of February.
In the First Phase, an Area Sabha Meeting was organized in the 74th ward of the Greater Chennai Corporation yesterday (Thursday, 25th January). Chennai Metro City Mayor R. Priya participated in this Area Sabha meeting and listened to the grievances of the local citizens.
