The southern railways division railway manager Mr. B. Vishwanath Eerya has mentioned that the Chennai division of the Southern Railways or SR has recorded an increase of 4.7 percent revenue registering total revenue of Rs 3236.56 cr till 31st December 2023-24 compared to the corresponding period of the last year. It must be taken into account that the SR divisional manager made his presence felt during the Republic Day celebrations that took place at RPF Ground ain Ayanavaram in Chennai yesterday.
In the Chennai division, every day about 1.5million passenger travel is known. It is worthy to mention here that Chennai division has achieved a loading performance of 7.413 million tonnes in the FY 2023- 24 till December 2023.
There has been an increased patronage in the southern railways operated trains and this was according to the divisional manager of SR.
It is learnt that as a part of digital India mission 130 automatic ticket vending machines or ATVM have been in operation and mobile UTS booking is becoming more popular. In Tambaram and Chengalpet, battery operated car services were launched as per the demands.
In the current FY, 28 new catering outlets were started in 24 railway stations. From 90kmph to 110kmph, the single line section`s sectional speed was increased.
