Yesterday, on Monday, the 19th of February, the budget for the Financial Year 2024-25 was presented. Alongside this announcement, it was revealed that a massive 27-storey building will be constructed opposite the Chennai Railway Station.
The budget presentation outlined several plans and projects slated for execution in Chennai Metro City:
A new construction project for a Public Square will be undertaken at the Chennai Metro City Island Grounds. This square will feature natural scenery, exhibition stalls, open-air theaters, and other essential public infrastructure.
- A new `Film City` spanning 150 acres will be established near Poonamallee.
- The Tamil Nadu Government Dentistry Medical College, located in Chennai Metro City, will undergo renovation, incorporating the latest construction features and amenities, at a cost of Rs. 64 Crores.
- A 27-storey tall building covering 10 Lakhs square feet will be erected opposite the Central Railway Station, equipped with the latest technological features.
- An integrated large Bus Terminus, equipped with modern facilities, will be constructed near the Broadway Bus Terminus and the `Kuralagam` Building in Chennai Metro City, with an estimated cost of Rs. 823 Crores.
- A high-skill level center will be established in Chennai Metro City, costing Rs. 25 Crores, catering to citizens focused on enhancing their own high-level skills.
- A new integrated commercial complex, the `Kalaignar multi-national Centre`, will be established at Muttukadu area on the East Coast Road, covering an area of 3 lakh square feet and costing Rs. 227 Crores. This complex will facilitate international fairs, multi-national conferences, etc.
- New Residential Quarters of 95B and 133C Type are proposed to be constructed in Thatandar Nagar in Chennai Metro City, Saidapet, covering an area of 3 lakh square feet at a cost of Rs. 147 Crores.
- A `Friends` Hostel` will be constructed in Chennai Metro City, catering to working women.
- A 6-month training course with boarding and lodging facilities will be conducted in Chennai Metro City, aimed at preparing youth for Central Government Jobs (UPSC written examinations) and Bank Jobs written examinations.
- Various flood prevention projects are underway in Chennai Metro City and surrounding districts to address permanent flood prevention.
- The church located in Choolai, Chennai Metro City, wilill be renovated without altering its ancient historic construction.
