The Tamilnadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa launched one-litre Amma Bottled Drinking Water on the 15th of this month. Priced at Rs. 10 to cater to the economically-weaker sections of society, it is the latest in the pro-people measures launched by Chief Minister Jayalalithaa. The product is being sold to passengers on State Express Transport Corporation (SETC) buses and retailed at 304 bus terminus across the state.
The Transport Department had established a packaging facility at Gummidipundi in Tiruvalllur district which could process three lakh litres of water every day. As of now only 1.50 litres are being produced here and because of this adequate bottles are not being supplied to the stalls.
The government will very soon make adequate arrangements to supply the mineral water bottles to all the centres.
