Commissioner J. Radhakrishnan chaired a coordination committee meeting at the Ribbon House campus to oversee preparations for an extensive polio drop camp across Chennai Corporation areas. Attendees included Additional Commissioner Jayachandra Banu Reddy, Standing Committee Chairperson Shanthakumari, Municipal Health Officer M. Jagatheesan, and representatives from various organizations.
Commissioner Radhakrishnan emphasized the need for collaborative efforts from government officials, Rotary Association members, Anganwadi officers, and volunteers to ensure the success of the camp. Despite India being declared polio-free, the risk persists due to neighboring countries. Hence, the upcoming March 3 camp aims to vaccinate approximately 6.68 lakh children under 5 years across 1,646 centers in Chennai.
Residents are urged to bring their children to the nearest immunization center for vaccination. The camp will be held at various locations, including Municipal Health Centres, Government Hospitals, Schools, and private facilities. Administering polio drops during the camp is crucial for eradicating the poliovirus from the environment.
