A special review meeting was conducted at the Chief Secretariat in Chennai Metro City yesterday (Monday, 8th April) regarding the operation of additional buses during the fast-approaching Parliamentary Election. This review meeting was presided over by the Additional Chief Secretary, Phaneendra Reddy.
Several high officials, including the Commissioner of the Transport Police Department and the Directors of the Transport Departments, as well as higher officials from various Government Departments, participated in this meeting.
The following decisions were taken regarding the operation of additional buses:
• 2970 special additional buses are to be operated from Chennai Metro City on the 17th and the 18th of April, in addition to the daily operation of 2092 buses. This will make a total of 7154 buses to be operated from Chennai Metro City, with a total of 3060 buses to be operated from other places.
• This totals 10214 buses to be operated.
• For the return trip after the elections, to facilitate citizens, an additional 1825 special buses will be operated on the 20th and the 21st of April, in addition to the daily regular 2092 buses. This makes a total of 6000 buses.
• In addition, 2295 special additional buses from various places to other cities will be operated, making a total of 8304 buses.
