Tamil Nadu`s sweltering summer has driven up the use of appliances like air conditioners and fans, leading to a spike in power consumption. Reports show that the state`s daily power usage has crossed 40 crore units, signaling a continuous rise in electricity demand.
On the 8th, Tamil Nadu hit a new record peak demand of 20,125 MW, which the power board managed to seamlessly meet. Even Chennai, the capital, experienced a surge in daily electricity demand.
On the 6th, at 10:30 pm, Chennai`s demand peaked at 4,590 MW, surpassing the previous record of 4,470 MW set on the 3rd. Furthermore, the city`s daily electricity consumption hit a new high of 97.7 million units two days ago, up from 97.43 million units on the 3rd. The Electricity Board assured uninterrupted power supply despite the heightened demand.
