In 2023, Chennai based Indian Institute of Technology or IIT Madras and UK based University of Birmingham joined hands together and launched their first joint Master`s degree programme in Data Science and Artificial Intelligence.
Now in 2024, the same combo has launched their second Master`s degree programme in Sustainable Energy Systems. This is now grabbing attention. It is now believed that this new course would help the graduates to become specialists in the fast developing industry that is leading the fight against climate change. A single master`s degree would be awarded jointly by both these academic institutions to the successful students after the student completes their studies in both IITM in Chennai and in Birmingham in UK.
It was brought out by the release that the students would carry out substantial individual project work within internationally recognised research groups. By this, the knowledge would be applied to real world challenges.
It was mentioned by Mr.Adam Tickell, vice-chancellor and principal of University of Birmingham that this new second master`s degree programme from IITM and University of Birmingham would provide new and exciting opportunities for the students to study in both India and UK.
He spoke about how the successful applicants would experience a global perspective as they get to know about the fundamental principles of sustainable energy systems. The hands-on experience would help the students to a huge extent in their professional career.
