A new decision has been taken by NHAI or National Highways Authority of India now!!
Information gathered is that NHAI has decided to drop the plan of constructing a 27km long elevated flyover between Tambaram and Chengalpet. It would instead construct multiple elevated stretches of flyovers between these places for smooth flow of traffic. This would reduce the project cost and toll burden on the road users.
As per the draft DPR, the Rs 3523 cr elevated corridor project was to begin at Perungalathur and go beyond the Paranur toll plaza passing over 15 major and minor intersections present on the GST Road.
It was later revealed by some NHAI sources that they have decided to drop the original plan of constructing a 27km long flyover due to high project cost and very high toll charges etc.
Grade separator or flyover is present at almost all major junctions between Perungalathur and Vandalur. Now, NHAI is having plans to build a 7km long flyover between Iyencheri junction and Potheri junction. By this, the vehicles could avoid Urapakkam, Guduvancheri and Kattankolathur junctions. Soon, build up locations (where the elevated flyovers would be constructed) would be identified by the consultant.
