Who doesn`t use mobile phones these days?
Point is that across India there are more than 1.2billion mobile phone users and 600 million smartphone users.
The mobile phone users would have to shell out more money from their purse from now onwards. It must be taken into account that the major telecommunication companies like Airtel, Vodafone, Jio etc have increased the tariffs. As a result, the mobile phone users would have to pay 10% to 25% more and it would be a huge burden for them.
Point is that Chennai with a large number of consumers would be finding it very difficult due to this hike in the mobile tariffs. This was as per some industry sources. It is learnt that the changes in tariffs are cheaper in India when compared to other countries in the West. It is now said that the telecom companies would get hugely benefited by this hike in the tariffs.
According to retired CGM, BSNL, Mr. P.V. Vinod, mobile phones have become an important part in our lives and spending on mobile phones has become a necessity now.
As per Mr. K.E. Raghunathan, chairman, Association of Indian Entrepreneurs, it was clear that the increase in the tariffs would affect the common people a lot. He added that already common people are struggling to come to terms with inflation etc and the hike in mobile charges would only increase their burden. He concluded that revitalisation of BSNL is important and TN govt must take steps for that. By this, the 5G mobile phone services could become affordable for the public.
Private telecommunication companies have been ruling now regarding providing mobile phone services to the people and BSNL has totally gone out of the competition now. This was mentioned by a resident from Chitlapakkam in Chennai.
