On Thursday, 4th July 2024, Mr. Nitin Gadkari, Union minister for road transport and highways grabbed many balls when he mentioned double bonanza for the citizens of Bengaluru. He hinted that Chennai-Bengaluru Greenfield corridor and BSTRR or Bengaluru Satellite Township Ring Road would be ready by the month of December 2024. This upcoming Greenfield corridor would be inaugurated by Indian PM Mr. Narendra Modi.
On Thursday evening, a valedictory event of Karnataka BJP special state executive committee meeting took place. In this meeting, Mr. Nitin Gadkari spoke about how the STRR project worth Rs 13000 cr would be completed by December month. In June in 2022, this project that aims to connect the peripheries of Bengaluru and reduce the traffic congestion in the city by about 30percent was launched.
Mr. Nitin Gadkari later explained that the Greenfield corridor project was announced in 2018 and it has been in development for the last 6 years. He pointed out that the foundation stone was laid in June 2022. Information gathered is that this road would connect the peripheries of Bengaluru and it would pass through Dobbspet, Ramanagara, Magadi Road, Doddaballapur, Devanahalli, Hoskote, Sarjapur and Hosur.
Point is that the Chennai- Bengaluru Greenfield corridor worth a mammoth Rs 17930 cr would reduce the travel time between the cities to 2 hours. In the last decade, Karnataka state has received 3.5lakh crores worth of road transport works in the last 10 years.
