From now onwards, popular ride hailing company Ola would be able to save Rs 100 crores per year. Surprised?
The news that has come out is that Ola has launched its own Ola Maps and has stopped using Google Maps for managing its cab operations. It is known that Ola was established in the year 2010 and it has got its headquarters in Bangalore in Karnataka state.
According to Mr. Bhavish Agarwal, Chairman of Ola Group, the change would lead to his company saving about Rs 100 crores every year. He spoke about how Ola used to spend Rs 100 cr every year and how now this has become zero this month. He added that this was achieved mainly because Ola has moved to in-house Ola Maps.
It is sensational to mention here that in the near future many features like street view, NERF, indoor images, 3D maps and drone maps would be integrated with Ola maps. He confirmed these features in a social media post. It must be recalled that in October 2021 Ola acquired GeoSpoc, Pune based geospatial services provider.
In June, Mr. Bhavish Agarwal ended all ties with Microsoft Azure and moved Ola workload to in-house AI from Krutrim. It must be recalled that at the time of launching Kutrim AI Ola announced that it would provide mapping solutions within its cloud services.
In 2025, Ola would start using its own cells in its products as Ola is constructing a battery cell giga factory in Tamil Nadu.
