The Tamil Nadu government has announced that select private hospitals will soon offer free vaccinations for children. Sixteen essential vaccines will be provided at no cost to children from one month old up to 18 years.
Director of Public Health and Preventive Medicine, Dr. Selvavinayagam, explained, "An ordinance has been issued to certain private hospitals to provide these free vaccinations. We are taking steps to ensure the public can access these vaccines at no charge."
Private hospitals have been instructed to store the vaccines properly and adhere to the prescribed guidelines. Dr. Selvavinayagam also mentioned that this initiative is expected to benefit the public, similar to the Chief Minister`s Health Insurance Scheme.
"Additionally," he noted, "extra centers will be opened to ensure that no fees are charged to the public."
