On Wednesday, 31st July, the TN health minister Mr. M. Subramanian grabbed many eyeballs. He spoke about how the chief minister of TN Mr. M.K. Stalin would soon inaugurate a new hospital tower with 441 beds at Kilpauk Medical College and Hospital or KMCH.
Important piece of information is that the tower would be constructed in an area of 2.6lakh square feet and would be constructed at a cost of Rs 358.87 cr. The fund would be provided by JICA or Japan International Cooperation Agency.
The new building would have 13 operation theatres that would include hybrid ones like MRI and digital X Ray. By September, the new building would be fully operational.
History about KMC:
Established in the year 1960, KMC is a government medical institution. It is worthy to mention that as many as 4 hospitals are attached to KMCH and these are Govt Royapettah Hospital, Govt Thiruvateeswarar hospital of thoracic hospital and Govt Peripheral Hospital of K.K. Nagar and Govt Peripheral Hospital of Anna Nagar. It must be taken into account that KMC is affiliated to TN Dr MGR Medical University, Chennai.
