Tamil Nadu Civil Supplies Corporation or TNCSC has now taken an important decision of opening new 100 Amudham stores across Tamil Nadu. Founded in the year 1972, TNCSC provides food grains, commodities etc for the public under PDS or public distributing system through ration cards.
As per a senior official from TNCSC, the main reason behind the opening of new 100 Amudham stores in Tamil Nadu would be to market essential commodities like pulses and cereals, fast moving consumer goods at less than MRP. By this, to check prices rise in the open market. These new Amudham stores would operate in self service motto.
The senior official then mentioned that TNCSC was keen to upscale the coverage by opening new Amudham stores across TN to help the public. It is learnt that with the existing 22 ADS shops in Chennai and5 ADS in Cuddalore region 100 new shops would be opened to the public.
It is now said that after the opening of 100 new Amudham stores the competition between private departmental stores would be kept in control and consumers would get benefited more.
For August, TNCSC dept has invited a fresh tender to procure dhal and palmolein. The consumers have been advised to avail these commodities in August too. It must be taken into account that there are some consumers who did not get their dhal and palmolein for July. Information gathered is that across Tamil Nadu there are as many as 54 Amma Amudham Departmental Stores or AADS operating for the public.
