The Tamil Nadu Health Department issued a circular to District and Airport Health Officers on Friday, responding to the global Monkeypox outbreak declared a state of emergency by WHO.

The circular mandates immediate reporting of suspected Monkeypox cases, especially among travelers from Congo and other Central African nations. Temperature checks for these travelers are required as a preventive measure.

Health officials must trace individuals from measles-affected countries within the last 21 days and strengthen referral arrangements to hospitals for those showing monkeypox symptoms.

If an infection is confirmed, the concerned airline must be notified to prevent further spread. The Monkeypox epidemic, now confirmed in Sweden, continues to spread rapidly.
