Residents Push for Metro Rail Extension to Pattabiram and Nemilichery!
With the growing commercial and IT development in Pattabiram and surrounding areas, residents are urging Chennai Metro Rail Limited (CMRL) to extend its Metro Rail services to this region.
In early August, CMRL contracted Koyambedu to Avadi for a Detailed Project Report (DPR). However, residents from Pattabiram and Tiruninravur are advocating for an extension to Nemilichery Outer Ring Road (ORR) to better serve IT employees and students. Sadagopan, president of the Tamil Nadu Progressive Consumer Centre, suggested extending the service to ORR (Vendalur to Minjur) to benefit the IT sector and encourage office establishments at Pattabiram Tidel Park.
In late July, CMRL awarded RITES Limited the contract for a 16 km corridor from Padi Pudhu Nagar to Tirumullaivoyal, which includes 15 elevated stations and considers the area`s IT parks and industrial hubs.
