At an amount of Rs 5.12 cr, the chief minister of TN, Mr. M.K. Stalin inaugurated an upgraded emergency control centre at Chepauk in Chennai on Thursday, 22nd August 2024. In an area of 10000 sqft, multi hazard warning technical cells, an inter-departmental coordination centre and other arrangements etc have been set up by the TN govt.
What is present at this emergency control centre?
There is a control room that is equipped with video conferencing to issue advisories to the district collectors, a 70 seater conference hall to hold meetings by the ministers & officials on preparedness, rescue and relief operations etc. A call centre is also present and it would attend calls received via toll free helplines 112 an 1070 during disasters etc.
The official release also mentioned that the centre has been provided with uninterrupted power supply, telecommunication and internet services etc. Without any interruption, the centre could be operated in the times of calamity.
It must be recalled that in January 2024 Khelo India games were held in TN. Yesterday, the chief minister of TN released a coffee table book on the above. Pont is that in the book titled `Future Is Here- Khelo India Games 2024` all the sensational moments of the event have been captured.
