The weather now in Chennai is on the cooler side and the residents are feeling happy and comfortable.
According to a press release from the Regional Meteorological Centre or RMC in Chennai, Tamil Nadu is likely to receive rains for 6 days from 20th September to 25th September. The press release statement mentioned that there is a change in the westerly winds blowing towards TN. As a result of this, there will be light to moderate rain with thunder and lightning at one or two places in TN today, which is 20th of September. From 21st to 25th, there will be moderate rain.
In Chennai today, sky would be partly cloudy and light to moderate rains with lightning and thunder is likely to take place in few places in the city. It is worthy to note that as per the rainfall recorded in the last 24 hours that ended at 8:30am yesterday the maximum rainfall of 10cm was recorded at Ponnai Dam in Vellore district. Madhavaram in Chennai recorded 7cms of rain. Other places in Chennai like Thiru VI Ka Nagar, Puzhal, Vanagaram, Puzhal, Ambattur etc each recorded 4cms of rain. There was 3cms of rain at Tiruttani belonging to Tiruvallur district.
The press release statement from RMC also mentioned that from today till 23rd September, cyclonic winds of speeds 35km to 55km would be prevailing in the Gulf of Mannar, south east coastal areas etc. The RMC has asked fishermen not to go into the sea.
