The Greater Chennai Corporation`s Town Vending Committee has announced plans to develop a mobile app aimed at streamlining the registration process for street vendors in the city.
As part of this initiative, the GCC will verify the contact numbers of 33,558 registered vendors and issue new chip-enabled ID cards. Additionally, the corporation will procure smart carts featuring GCC logos using Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) funds.
To enhance operational efficiency, the committee will also utilize Geographic Information System (GIS) technology to designate areas where vending is permitted. This decision follows a series of seven meetings with stakeholders led by the committee under the Revenue Department.
