The news that has come out now is that the kalai thiruvizha event or arts & cultural event held in the state run schools and for the first time in the aided and special schools has reached block level. An amount of Rs 103lakhs has been released by the school education department.
From 22nd October to 24th October, the block level events would be held for the studying in classes 1 to 5. From 15th to 17th October, the block events would be held for the students of classes 6 to 8. For the students of classes 9 to 12, the block level events would be held from 21st to 24th October. This was according to a notification from the school education department.
The school education dept has also released funds for conducting the events. The dept has allotted Rs2.50 lakhs for the 10 educational blocks in Chennai. In the same manner, for 8 blocks in Chengalpet, the dept has allotted Rs 2 lakhs and Rs 3.50lakhs for 14 blocks in Tiruvallur.
The schools reopened across TN after the quarterly exam holidays on 7th of October and now the school education dept has released schedules for block level events.
Various guidelines set by the school education department regarding the participation of the school students at the block levels events are getting consent or approval letter from the parents to take part in the event, male or female teachers accompanying the students taking part in the block or district level competitions and maintaining of score sheets of the participants by the school teachers or organisers of the events etc. It is known that for the first time kalai thiruvizha is being held for students belonging to classes 1 to 12 in Tamil Nadu.
