The Higher education minister Mr. Kovi. Chezian has mentioned that Teachers Recruitment Board or TRB would soon fill up the 4000 vacancies for assistant professors at various arts & sciences colleges in TN. Yesterday he held discussions with the higher officials regarding the activities of the department.
Other important personalities who were present yesterday were Mr. K. Gopal, higher education secretary, Mr. Abraham, technical education commissioner, Sundaravalli, college education commissioner, Mr. M.P. Vijayakumar, vice chairman of higher education council etc. The discussion took place at the Tamil Nadu State Council of Higher Education in Marina in Chennai.
The minister Mr. Kovai Chezhiyan spoke to the press. He explained how guest lecturers have been appointed temporarily so that the education of the students in the govt arts and sciences colleges doesn`t get affected. He added that the work has been going on now to appoint assistant professors on a regular basis. He concluded that accordingly TRB would conduct examinations for the 4000 assistant professors posts soon. The honorary lecturers would be given preference. It is now said that the vacant posts for VC, registrar etc in the universities would be filled up gradually.
