The festival of deepavali or lights is round the corner!!
Normally, for deepavali people would wear new clothes etc. As Deepavali would be celebrated on 31st of October, the residents belonging to Chennai have already started purchasing new clothes, many new household items etc from the shops. As the crowd size has started to increase, the police have also stepped up security arrangements.
It is expected that in the coming days and weekends more people would be thronging places like T. Nagar, Purasai, Parry`s corner, Washermenpet, Thiruvanmiyur etc as just 2 Sundays are available now till deepavali day. To safeguard the residents from robbers etc in this festival time, the police have already taken security measures.
Yesterday being Sunday, there were lots of people in the commercial places like T. Nagar etc. Observation towers have been set up for the sake of surveillance work by means of remote control equipment. Pickpockets and chain snatchers are closely monitored by secret surveillance by the police dept.
It is superb to mention here that the police dept have kept record and photos of criminals in the computer and police would be able to find out the criminals if they try to infiltrate into the crowd.
Apart from these, in the places where the residents would crowd more arrangements have been made to install additional surveillance cameras. Recorded footage would be monitored from the control room. It must be noted that every year on the occasion of deepavali police commissioner would visit T. Nagar and inspect the security arrangements is known.
