It was confirmed by the TN transport minister Mr. S.S. Sivasankar that for the upcoming deepavali festival measures have been taken to operate private buses on contract basis. It is known that deepavali would be celebrated on 31st of October.
Yesterday, the transport minister was busy in Perambalur in TN. He revealed that on 24th of October a consultation meeting was planned with the omni bus owners. The omni bus owners would be asked not to charge high amounts for tickets from the people who travel to their native places or hometowns for the festival. The minister was clear that strict action would be taken if the private bus owners do not follow the rules. Point is that those persons who book their tickets in advance through the app could also benefit if they file a complaint about high ticket rates.
Measures have been taken now to operate private buses in TN on contract basis during the festival season. On a trial basis, this process was implemented during Saraswathi puja and Ayudha puja recently.
In normal circumstances, about 20,000 buses would be operated in TN, The transport minister explained that for festivals etc, if an additional 5000 buses needs be operated, then the transport corporation cannot purchase and park the buses simply. It won be possible to employ additional employees on that particular day. Therefore, the TN government has decided to run private buses on their respective routes on contract mode for the festivals.
