For Deepavali festival, many people would be going to their native places by train. The railway stations would be full of passengers. In this scenario, thefts would take place.
To prevent thefts and to protect the passengers etc, as many as 1250 police personnel have been deployed at the railway stations and trains etc now. It must be noted that on a rotational basis 7 DSPs, 25 inspectors, 95 sub inspectors and others totalling 1250 would be busy monitoring the railway stations and trains etc.
It was brought out by some railway dept police personnel that now the security measures have been intensified in the railway stations and in the trains etc. In the railway stations, both railway police as well as RPF personnel have been doing their duties. The passengers arriving at the entrance of the railway stations are being tested using metal detector devices. The railway tracks are also being monitored continuously for 24 hours now.
For the women passenger`s security in ladies compartments, women police personnel have been carrying out their duties in police uniforms and in normal dress etc. The railway dept police personnel threw light on how CCTV cameras present near the entrance and in other places at the railway stations would be keeping an eye on the passengers.
Sniffer dogs are being used now in important railway stations in cities like Chennai, Coimbatore, Salem, Trichy, Madurai etc for catching criminals from northern districts. This was mentioned by some police personnel belonging to the railways.
