The Greater Chennai City Traffic Police (GCTP) has announced new traffic diversions near Madhya Kailash Junction on Rajiv Gandhi Salai, effective from Sunday, December 22, 2024. These diversions are part of a trial run due to ongoing bridge construction work at the junction.

According to the updated traffic plan, vehicles traveling from Adyar towards Guindy will be redirected onto Rajiv Gandhi Salai (OMR). They will proceed for 400 meters on OMR, where they will make a U-turn in front of CPT Polytechnic College in Taramani, before heading towards CPT Junction to continue their journey.

There will be no changes for vehicles traveling from Guindy to Adyar or OMR. MTC buses coming from OMR towards Guindy will follow a designated separate lane to drop passengers at the rear side of the Madhya Kailash Temple.

This diversion is expected to ease congestion at CPT Junction, reduce waiting times, and improve overall traffic flow in the area, as stated by the GCTP. The trial will be monitored closely to assess its effectiveness.
