The Panagal Park Metro station, part of Corridor 4 connecting Lighthouse to Poonamallee Bypass, is under construction and expected to be operational by March 2027. Located in a busy commercial hub, the underground station will ease traffic congestion and improve transit connectivity.
Spanning 319 meters in length and 26 meters in depth, the station features five entry points at key locations to accommodate heavy public movement. Construction of the base slab is complete, with 40% of the overall work finished. Tunnel Boring Machines (TBMs), named Pelican and Peacock, are advancing work between Panagal Park and Kodambakkam stations, with breakthroughs anticipated in March and April.
Challenges include confined spaces and utility diversions, but progress continues steadily, according to CMRL officials.
