Police security beefed up in Chennai on the occasion of Narendra Modi visit

BJP prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi will be visiting Chennai on 18th October for delivering the Nani Palkhivala memorial lecture in 2013 at the centenary auditorium of Madras University opposite Marina beach. After that he is releasing a book written by senior BJP leader, Arun Shourie: Self-deception: India China policies.

Police have intensified extensive searches several places in Chennai as a precautionary measure. Security arrangements for the auditorium are already in place. Accord­ing to a release, the participants’ mobile phones, cameras and handbags will not be allowed inside the auditorium.

Vehi­cular checks have been intensified and the police are questioning everybody that they suspect, the sources said.

They added that the police have also intensified search operations in Ambattur, Avadi and other mofussil areas.

Managers of lodges have been informed to report any suspicious activity in their lodges to the nearest police station and also in case of any unidentified baggage in the lodges, they are to be immediately given to the police.
